Sail Training Holiday on a Catamaran
Catamaran Training Course
It was Mark Twain who captured our imagination with his famous saying: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
You felt it too… you want to go sailing, you want to throw off the bow lines, you want to feel the breeze in your hair, the freedom of knowing you can sail around the world just on what mother nature provides free of charge, but you want to do it in spacious comfort? Come and sail with us on the cats, and see how the stability and speed of a catamaran, plus the interior space and luxury onboard, can really make your sail training holiday an absolute pleasure.
Double cabins with their own private en-suite facilities in separate quarters of the catamaran so your personal comfort and privacy is superb; spacious galley and dining area in which to relax at the end of each training day; spend your siesta on the bow trampolines, listening to the lap of the water against the hulls whilst you’re gently rocked to sleep … caught your imagination yet?
Some people are prejudiced against catamarans; you hear comments like ‘never go to sea on a boat with patio doors’ and to be honest, I was always a monohull girl, but when I tried cat sailing I was hooked. Another, more frivolous, way of putting it is that when you put your gin and tonic on a table in a force 4 it stays there … you can’t do that on a monohull!
A sail training holiday on a catamaran is perfect for a family or group of friends; your instructor will show you the ropes and you’ll run through a Competent Crew or Day Skipper syllabus during your time with us. Courses are run on demand but it’s worth registering your interest with us, so we can contact you should other individuals get in touch. This will allow us to put a course together if you’re not in a family or friends group.

Fantastic 2 weeks starting off with the theory week with Nathan and going onto the sailing practical week with the infamous “Johnny B”. Everything was very well organised from start to finish. We all had plenty of helm time to get comfortable handling a 40′ catamaran under power and sail. Both my wife and I walked away feeling very satisfied with overall package. We can definitely recommend Aigua Sea School for all your yacht training. Thanks for a great time Werner and Janet.
This is a shout out to Johnny Breslin and the Aigua Sea School for an incredibly well organised and informative week on my RYA Day Skipper practical course. I was a rather late candidate but the team in the office did everything to make the transition on to the boat as smooth as possible.
Once I arrived on the Catamaran to take part in the Day Skipper Qualification, Johnny Breslin (the instructor) welcomed me right on board and professionally covered all the elements of what was to be expected during the course. Johnny is one of the most experienced seaman I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and his vast knowledge on all aspects of the ocean was perfectly explained and demonstrated.
All along he made the course enjoyable during every theory session and all the practical manoeuvring. I felt I was always learning something new and you could go to him with any question/query you may have had. He controlled the dynamics of the crew very well and ensured the boat was comfortable and every crew member had all the relevant materials on board.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend Johnny and the Sea School enough for everything they have done to make this course extremely worthwhile in my progression in the yachting industry.
From an instructor’s point of view, Aigua offers unparalleled facilities but, more importantly, a very good support system which means we can offer great service to the students.
When you couple that with their diligence and integrity you can be sure of being in safe hands.
