Learn the skills to enjoy powerboating by day
Powerboat Handling Level 2 Training Course
The Level 2 Powerboat Handling course provides you with the skills and background knowledge required to drive a powerboat (open boat, RIB or sports boat) up to 10m.
Your training will cover the complete syllabus to include:
- boat handling in close quarters,
- high and low speed manoeuvres,
- man overboard recovery
- and collision regulations.
Taking the course with Aigua Sea School in Mallorca will provide you with a coastal endorsement for your certificate.
The RYA guidelines for the Level 2 course are at least 80% of the time to be on the water; we offer that, and more, using the break times to cover theory in a thorough, yet relaxed, manner in order to maximise the amount of time you are onboard.
This course is for recreational boating and for the professional mariner, providing the ‘yacht tender driving licence’. The Powerboat level 2 certificate can be commercially endorsed to provide an RYA/MCA licence and is a requirement for many people working within the yachting industry. For professional mariners, with a commercial endorsement in place on your Powerboat certificate, you can work on commercial vessels, operating in category 6 waters, that is 3 miles from a nominated departure point.
If you are looking to gain the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) this will allow you to gain the coastal power endorsement for a ‘power vessel up to 10 metres’ including ‘personal watercraft’*. If you would like to gain the inland endorsement you will need to complete the CEVNI test in addition. The fee for the ICC is to be paid directly, by the candidate to the RYA, on the application form. *Subject to eligibility based on nationality and/or residency.
Aigua Sea School holds RYA recognition to run the Level 2 Powerboat handling course in two locations in Mallorca, Palma and Port Adriano. Both training locations provide superb training exercise areas within the 3NM limit advised by the RYA.

Thank you so much for an amazing course and instructor Fred Harper’s clear, fun and patient way of instructing! Highly recommended!
The school had a challenge when their primary powerboat went out of commission. They worked overtime to manage to get a boat for the PB2 course. Nathan is a great instructor with great patience and encouraging feedback to help you get the skills you need. Highly recommended!
