The skills to enjoy powerboating by day
Powerboat Handling Level 2 Training Course
The Level 2 Powerboat Handling course provides you with the skills and background knowledge required to drive a powerboat, open boat, RIB or sports boat. Your training will cover the complete syllabus to include boat handling in close quarters, high and low speed manoeuvres, berthing, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. Taking the course with Aigua Sea School in Mallorca will provide you with a coastal endorsement for your certificate.
This course is for recreational boating and for the professional mariner, providing the ‘yacht tender driving licence’. The Powerboat level 2 certificate can be commercially endorsed to provide an RYA/MCA licence and is a requirement for many people working within the yachting industry. The RYA guidelines for the Level 2 course are at least 80% of the time to be on the water; we offer that, and more, using the break times to cover theory in a thorough, yet relaxed, manner in order to maximise the amount of time you are onboard.
If you are looking to gain the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) this will allow you to gain the coastal power endorsement for a power vessel up to 10 metres. If you would like to gain the inland endorsement you will need to complete the CEVNI test in addition. The fee for the ICC is to be paid directly, by the candidate to the RYA, on the application form.
Aigua Sea School holds RYA recognition to run the Level 2 Powerboat handling course in two locations in Mallorca, Palma and Port Adriano. Both training locations provide superb training exercise areas within the 3NM limit advised by the RYA. Subject to eligibility based on nationality and/or residency, the ICC can be applied for using the Powerboat level 2 course completion certificate as proof of competence. The ICC will be issued to cover ‘power up to 10m’ including ‘personal watercraft’. For professional mariners, with a commercial endorsement in place on your Powerboat certificate, you can work on commercial vessels, operating in category 6 waters, that is 3 miles from a nominated departure point.

The whole arrangement was superb, we booked on the old website and the transition over to the new website was professional, the whole booking process was good and really quick. We were given advice on nearby hotels too which was really helpful and nice. Fred was superb, he had a gentle way of helping you…
Fab instruction and very well taught.
I recently did my Power Boat level 2 course with Aigua Sea School, I’d had a little experience on boats before starting, but everything was explained clearly and demonstrated to perfection by Fred. The course is over 2 days which is plenty of time to practice all the maneuvers and knots, and learn the theory…
I really enjoyed the Powerboat Level 2 course and am already looking into doing the next one, if I do I will definitely be back. Fred was very good, and even though I was a little slow to get parking, he re-demonstrated it and explained what I needed to do differently without getting annoyed.
