Personal Watercraft Proficiency: Great fun on the water, and stay safe
Personal Watercraft Proficiency Course
Personal Watercraft is the generic term for jet skis and wet bikes. They are fast and exciting, but need to be handled with care, and safety on the water is paramount. Personal Watercraft (PWCs) vary in size from one-person machines or to carry up to four people. Having delivered courses for over 12 years, Aigua Sea School is one of the best RYA recognised training centres with the authority to run Personal Watercraft Proficiency courses in Port Adriano.
Why Port Adriano?
We chose Port Adriano to specialise in the Personal Watercraft courses because the area provides safe shallows for the familiarisation and introduction to the craft, then some exciting and challenging areas for the passage planning section of the course. Navigate your way through the stunning rock formations of the Malgrats islands or through the ‘El Toro gap’ as part of your afternoon training adventure. Whether you fancy having a ‘go’ on holiday or you are planning on buying your own PWC, the RYA Personal Watercraft course will teach you how to get the best from it, and stay safe.
What’s covered in the course?
The course is designed for first time and experienced riders alike. Within the RYA course syllabus you will be trained in low and high-speed handling, launching and recovery techniques, passage planning and decision making, essential safety information, collision avoidance and orientation at sea, plus the essential flush through drills at the end of use. There is no prior knowledge required and you will be provided with an RYA course book that is an excellent source of knowledge about the training, the skills and the safety aspects of handling a fast craft on the water.
Are there jet skis onboard the yacht you work on?
To enable the guests to use the jet skis onboard a yacht safely and legally you have a few options:
- If the yacht is not an RYA Superyacht Training Center, we can send an instructor to you, and train the guests onboard in order for them to achieve the Personal Watercraft Proficiency certificate. Contact us today to find out our availability for ‘onboard’ training.
- The yacht can apply to become an RYA Superyacht Training Center, then the crew can train to become RYA Jet Ski Instructors and teach the ‘Personal Watercraft Safety’ course to all guests. We can assist in this process, for more information see the Recognition Services page.
Do you have your own skis?
If you would like tuition on your own watercraft, please do not hesitate to contact the school office to talk through your ideal training dates and how many are in your group. We can train one-on-one or up to six persons during any one-day course, using a maximum of three x PWs.

Hi, I did RYA Yachtmaster Ocean shorebased in first week of Sept 2019. Simon Bradshaw (Instructor) is a gem. The best part of the course was when we went out at sea to take sights. I did my PWC on the weekend, the instructor was really good and i had great time on Jetski that…
Great idea, phantastic service! Highly recommended!
We did 2 great courses with Dylan.
Had a fantastic day today thanks to Aigua sea school doing the jet ski course in Port Adriano, excellent instructors Paul and Victor. Then popped to the office in Palma which is amazing, with a beautiful art gallery. Thank you very much to everyone who made our day a day to remember.
