A fun two-day introduction to sailing
Start Yachting Course
Fancy giving it a go? The RYA ‘Start Yachting’ is a two-day introductory course where you can answer that question you’ve often asked yourself … “what’s it like to go sailing?” You’ve seen the sun-drenched images of the yacht sailing away on the horizon, and always wondered, so here’s your way to find out!
Each day will start at a leisurely 09:30hrs and you’ll first receive a safety briefing. This will ensure you feel relaxed in the knowledge that your personal safety is of paramount to our Instructor. Throw off the bowlines and set sail into Palma Bay for a morning of sailing techniques and understanding how the sails work with the wind.
Around lunchtime, you will drop the anchor over white sand in a sheltered anchorage to enjoy a Mediterranean style lunch onboard. Of course, you can take a swim should the waters be at a comfortable temperature but please be sure to pack a beach towel.
Then spend the afternoons sailing in the Bay of Palma. You don’t have to sleep onboard so you can retire to your villa or hotel at the end of each day. You’ll do a little bit of everything, from rope work to helming and from hoisting sails to changing tack; it’s a great taster of what could potentially become the love of your life!

This time last week I was just getting to know my fellow shipmates as we set off from Palma marina for a week’s Day Skipper course. In my case (having already done a Competent Crew course in Alicante and realising that I was nowhere near ready for the next level) all I wanted to do…
After sailing more than 50 years I thought I was a rather good sailor. Two sailing friends asked me to accompany them to do the Coastal skipper course and Yachtmaster. I’m very happy now that I did it. Now there is less stress when I have to berth with crosswind, now I know what ship…
I’ve had a great week and even found the exam instructive. How would that be? – because there’s always more to learn! We had a couple of windy days, which was great for practicing what you never seem to do: MOB drill, blind sailing etc. and Nathan is a pretty cool seaman. Well done! Yachting…
I truly recommend Aigua Sea school to do your courses. They are very nice and professional. I did my day skipper sailing course with them and I really enjoyed it. Nathan was very patient and understanding. He is a very wise teacher. I would go back any time to do more courses with them!
