I would highly recommend Aguia Sea School, the staff, JP, Dawn and Linda, are extremely helpful, John and Simon, the instructors that got me through my yachtmaster, short range radio course and my ocean are knowledgable, patient and passionate about their subjects. All in all a great operation, thanks guys!
Amanda’s great medical training helped me to save a life on my recent Trans Atlantic crossing! Thank you so much. A client developed a severe seasickness right after leaving Guadeloupe. Halfway across it got so bad that I found him hyperventilating with curled up fingers and toes in his cabin. Promising wild and crazy sex (apparently it gets them focused) if managing to breathe in pace with me helped. Lying is not considered a crime if it works to safe a life! Great practical hints and tricks from a wonderful person packed with experience.
We did a private Sea Survival course and thought is was great! really useful! Thanks Linda!
I found the Sea Survival training to be very good and interactive, both the theory and practice sessions were helpful, but the practical was the most memorable.
Sea Survival was a fantastic course! We all loved and enjoyed!! Thank you so much for putting together for us especially for the boys! We really had a great time and I hope more families will have a great practice as we did 😉
I took this training as it was required to commercially endorse my Yachtmaster Offshore (also done at Aigua). I ended up with so many valuable insights that I would recommended it to anyone.
The Sea Survival course has a morning part focusing on the theory and an afternoon part which consists of practical drills in the swimming pool. You will experience first hand how to deploy a life raft, get on it dry and wet, try to get someone in need into it and much more. All taught by Linda in a very professional and accurate way as usual. Hopefully I will never have to experience this in real-life but, should that happen, I feel this course has prepared me properly for it. Thank you Aigua and thank you Linda!
I attended the Basic Sea Survival course organized by Aigua Sea School in July 2016 and saying it was an extremely positive experience is an understatement. From the moment I first contacted them, they went out of their ways to find the optimal solution for me. They actually ran the course despite the fact that there were not enough attendees, just because I urgently needed the course. That is the level of customer service they provide.
The course itself was great. The first (theoretical) part was extremely educational and at the same time really interactive. Linda (the instructor) made sure we followed and understood everything by asking us many small questions throughout the presentation. It is clear that she knows exactly was she is talking about as she gave us many tips from first hand experiences. What I especially liked was her ability to keep the mood light and relaxed but at the same time making us realize that the topic itself should be taken extremely serious.
In the second part we performed a wet drill in the nearby pool. We had more than sufficient time to practice all the necessary manoeuvres over and over again until we were confident enough to performing them safely. And for some things its good to have a chance to try them more than once!! However, what really impressed me was the fact that we were able to self-inflate real cutting-edge life jacket in order to see how it actually performs. Not every school gives you this opportunity! Similarly as in the presentation part, I really enjoyed the environment Linda created as it made it easy to ask any question.
Overall I strongly recommend the Aigua Sea School, not just for the course I did, but for any course they provide, as it is evident that they really take care for the people they teach and this is not just a job for them. They really go out of their ways to help and satisfy any needs you might have!
I would just like to say thank you to you and your team for looking after us.
From my first point of contact, you bent over backwards to accommodate our needs, we had virtually no experience in the world of motor yachts. You advised us on what we needed to do pre course and sorted this out for us via the internet. We gave you a very short time scale to put the Day Skipper practical course together and you meet our needs without hesitation.
Sam came to our boat on the first morning and we all took to him very quickly, he was super relaxed and explained things to us in layman terms which was great as some us had not set foot on a motor yacht before.
Safety first was the order of the day as he walked us step by step through the boat and its safety features. He made sure we all understood each step before moving on to the next.
We then came to the handling of the boat which is daunting to say the least to a bunch of newbies. Again Sam was patient and methodical, letting us make mistakes and not jumping in but explaining how the boat works and only taking over if one of us had a brain lock.
Our first trip out was Portals to Palma where we berthed for the night, Sam booked us a table at an excellent restaurant in Palma.
VHF radio exam came next at your offices. You looked after us very well and explained in detail how the VFH worked and the advantages of been able to use the radio in a competent fashion.
We all know we still have a long way to go but knowing you guys are on the end of the phone makes life a little less stressful on our early voyages.
I would recommend Aigua Sea School to anyone starting out or brushing up on their skills.
I have done my PB2, VHF, Day Skipper Motor and PWC Instructor with Aigua and I couldn’t be happier with all my instructors!!!! (Nathan, Sam, Trevor, Linda, Katie, Candi and Graham – thanks to you all!! You are brilliant!). The professionalism that everything is run with, from the first contact to the end of the courses, is to a very high standard and making you feel welcomed at all times! I am already looking forward to what´s next!!! Keep up the good work!
The first aid on Saturday was brilliant. I have had a few courses with Amanda before whilst working on Unfurled, so knew what to expect and as always really enjoyed what she had to teach us.
Similarly the Sea Survival course was really good and you are an excellent Instructor. Both Paul and I feel more equipped to deal with an emergency situation. I particularly liked the structure of the course (morning theory then afternoon practical) and being able to look at and use all the equipment.
The First Aid was great and we both really enjoyed it. Amanda (Hewson) was excellent; she explained everything very well and answered all questions. We could have quite easily done another day to further our learning.
Sea Survival: Just a quick review on this essential day – beside the well structured course and its content, I personally think that this is one of the most essential courses any seamen should take. The theoretical part covers the parts and topics which you normally don’t expect where the practical drill prepares you for the situation when you abandon the ship. Furthermore you not only know what to do and what you shouldn’t but you get an idea of what will happen when your passengers and your crew get onto this raft or how to react to survive under difficult circumstances. These essential parts, and the training for this unlikely event, turns this course into a ‘must’ to any seafarer.
Thank you very much for all your efforts and your patience.
I would like to say thank you for the VHF exam & workshop and for your professionalism. I feel I learnt more in two evenings with you than I have in two days over here and that’s all due to the fantastic way you explain things. Thank you.
